After having zero guests stay in the guest bedroom for the past year, it was time for this space to get a little refresh. When we were forced to stay home all the time, we needed space in the house to spread out. So, we used every square foot we could find, including the guest bedroom. This area became my daughter’s TV room where she could escape from life with the rest of us. So, when we finally had the privilege to have guests again, the space was in need of some things like new bedding, night stands, and just a good cleaning.

Guest Bedroom Bedding
After I cleared out the clutter, the next thing I tackled was the bedding. Since the bed takes up most of the room, that was a great place to start. New bedding updated the whole room. I went through several tries, but I landed on this black and white combination I put together from Target.

I started with the white textured linen pillows with the black stripes down the middle and the black stitching on the edges. Those were so gorgeous and they went so well with my black bed and wallpaper, that I added everything else to go with those pillows. To add some more pop to the bed, I added the black pillows with the diamond on the front from Opalhouse. And finally, I have been switching between the black and white geometric pillow and the black and white diamond pillow in the front. These pillows are not made to go together, but who would know. They work perfectly together.

For my main bedspread, I used this Casa Luna linen quilt in white. Having a solid color on the bed allows the pillows to pop. I also liked the square quilting that added to the texture. Under all of this bedding, I added a new set of sheets. I picked these for the small pattern. I thought it would be more interesting than a solid color. At the end of the bed I added a black snuggly blanket. I think we have this blanket in every color somewhere in our house. You won’t find anything more snuggly.

Night Stands
For years I just had a round table with a table cloth on one side of the bed and an antique chair on the other. Neither really functioned well as a nightstand. So, I decided to find a little nightstand that would fit in the very narrow and small space I had on the side of the bed. I found these cuties at Home Depot online and ordered them up. They were super easy to put together, came very well packed, and are super sturdy. If you have a small area to fill on the side of the bed, these nightstands are perfect.

Guest Bedroom Accessories
For my guests, I also added new lamps, a mirror over the dresser, and an oil diffuser humidifier. The lamps are touch lamps and have an outlet in their base. The are from Target and super affordable. They make it easy for guests to plug in their phones and turn them on and off.

The mirror brings in a natural wood tone which I love with a black and white color scheme. I also added a ghost chair between the dresser and the window. It fills the corner, but doesn’t take up much visual space. It just gives a place for that punchy geometric pillow to sit and complement the floral wallpaper. None of these changes were major, but definitely gave the space a refresh and made it more functional for guests.
