Art can be expensive. Here’s a great idea to make your own large wall art with paint from your garage. It’s the perfect solution.
If you are like me you have probably have a garage full of extra paint. I’ll go to get a couple of samples and try them out and then I’ll buy it by the gallon. When I was on my quest to find the perfect gray for my living room, I probably brought home twenty samples. At this point I have painted almost every room in my house and each time I end up with extra paint which is totally not a problem for me! I love paint. I have used it in several DIY projects and I will not let my husband get rid of any of it.
Here is how my kids and I used our extra paint stash to create some very inexpensive, but beautiful wall art for my bedroom.
Step 1: Buy an Art Canvas
First, we bought a large canvas at
Step 2: Gather Extra Paint
Then, we gathered part of our paint collection from the garage – mostly gray, black, and cream sample paints.

Step 3: Pour Paint on Canvas
Next, we poured some paint in lines on the canvas. I used grays, black, and a little bit of cream.

Step 4: Scrape Paint with Paint Stick
Finally, I gave each kid a paint stick and let them scrape the paint back and forth until they had covered the canvas with paint.

Step 5: Dry and Hang Your Art
After we let it dry, we hung it on the wall in my bedroom. It’s a great piece of large inexpensive wall art.

So, this art really only cost me the price of the canvas which I got on sale at Michaels. It was super easy and I didn’t have to buy or use a bunch of acrylic craft paint to fill this giant canvas.
