Here it is – my mom’s old fashioned recipe for brownies. Don’t tell her I told you, but they are delicious. She used to make them for almost every neighborhood gathering when I was a kid. They are the perfect finish to a casual gathering. Eat them plain or dress them up with ice cream, either way you will love them.
I actually think my mom made this recipe with her mom and my daughter and I made this recipe together around Christmas this year. It’s not a complicated recipe and the ingredients are things you probably have on hand. So, why not make some brownies? They don’t last long at my house, that’s for sure!

Recipe For Brownies
Ingredients:
1 Cop of Shortening
6 Tbsp. Cocoa
1 and 1/2 Cups of Flour
1 tsp. Baking Powder
1 tsp. Salt
4 Eggs
2 Cups of Sugar
1 tsp. of Vanilla
1 Cup of Chopped Nuts (if desired)
Instructions:
Step 1: Melt together in small pan on low heat 1 Cup of Shortening and 6 Tbsp. Cocoa.
Step2: Sift together 1 and 1/2 cups of flour, 1 tsp. baking powder, and 1 tsp. salt.
Step 3: Beat 4 eggs and add 2 cups of sugar.
Step 4: Add melted shortening and cocoa mixture to your egg and sugar mixture. Mix well.
Step 5: Add remaining dry ingredients and mix well.
Step 6: Add 1 tsp. of vanilla.
Step 7: Mix in 1 cup of chopped nuts, if desired.
Step 8: Pour batter in a 9″ x 13″ old aluminum brownie pan.
Step 9: Bake for 30-35 minutes on 350. Do not overcook. Check them at 25 minutes.
Your pan of brownies should come out looking like they have a thin crust on top and moist brownie underneath. Now, cut your brownies and enjoy!
