Do you still give your kids an Easter basket? Yes, I still do it. Drew is closing in on fourteen and Zane is almost 11, but they love candy and so do I, so we still do Easter baskets. We use the same baskets from years past and I fill them with candy – way too much chocolate. However, there is a pretty big chance I will eat most of the chocolate before Easter comes around and I’ll have to buy more. This year I’ve been sneaking quite a bit. As far as what else goes in the basket, it’s more like gifts of things they need. So, I thought I’d share what I did this year and give you some Easter basket gift ideas for older kids.

Summer & Pool Items
Summer is right around the corner and every year we need new bathing suits, flip flops, goggles, and pool floaties. So, those have been my go to gift items for several years now. Last year I got them underwater surf boards and floaties. This year I got each a floatie, one was a pizza slice and the other was a watermelon slice.

This year I tried to find some sort of water game that they could play together. I found these log jousting floaties and I thought they might be fun. We will see how long they last. I can just see them now trying to balance on these logs and jousting.

Summer Shoes
My kids are always ready for a new pair of shoes at the end of the school year. This is when they shed their real shoes and live in flip flops and sandals when shoes are required. So, these are great Easter basket gift ideas for older kids – flip flops and sandals. This year I got my son some sandals. My daughter still has a pair of sandals, but needed tennis shoes. She got a pair of tennis shoes this year.

Academic Planner
So, as my daughter gets older, her life gets busier and busier. I try to get her to look at a calendar and write down important things, but it’s a little too infrequent. I use the larger, daily version of this planner and I love it. You can see what I think about this planner at Mom’s Favorite Planner. I love the academic year and this is when the academic year is on sale. So, this year I got my daughter the mini weekly planner and we will see if it helps her with her busy schedule next school year.
Socks
Yep, that’s right, socks. Who doesn’t love a new pair of socks? I don’t know if my kids actually love new socks, or they just act excited about them for my benefit, but either way, they are getting socks. They both need socks and I just happen to think about it when I was shopping, so I’m putting them in the Easter baskets. Woohoo!

Also, we will have an insane amount of candy! Look away if you don’t love Reese’s! I’ll stuff a million eggs and they will hunt them and eat a million pieces of candy if I don’t eat it all first! It’s certainly different as the kids get older, but still a fun holiday. I had to go all the way back to 2017 to find pictures of my kids that I took with my real camera! Weren’t they cute?
